Kaneohe Bay Air Show 2010

Friday we spent the day at the Kaneohe Bay Air Show.  We were there because I really wanted to see the Blue Angels.  Trey was told the show started at 11.  We were both crazy in thinking that the Blue Angels would be the opening act.  Once we were there we found out that they didn't perform until 3pm.  I was crossing my fingers hoping that the girls would hold out for four hours in the sun.  Luckily, Friday was for military personnel only which made the day so much nicer.  We didn't have to deal with the huge crowds that were going to be there on Saturday and Sunday.  We had prime seating with literally nobody next to us.  The air show started with skydivers.  The last of the skydivers had an American flag attached to him which was an awesome way to start to show.  Then there were all kinds of different shows being put on.  Trey's squadron, HSL-37, had two of it's helicopters perform.  They just basically did a fly by and then hovered over the ground while the commentator explained about the history of the squadron and the helicopters.  The picture above is of Trey and Riley posing by one of the helicopters from HSL-37.  Below is Riley sitting inside of the helicopter.  She thought she was big money sitting in there!
Hadley is snuggling up on her daddy!  Notice all of the empty seats around us.  It was so nice!
We grabbed some lunch and watched more of the air show entertainment.  The girls were both melting down because it was way passed nap time.  But the Blue Angels performance was only fifteen minutes away and I refused to leave.  Selfish, I know, but that was the whole reason I wanted to go to the air show.  I had Riley lay down in the stroller with her baby doll and told her to relax.  Then I walked around with Hadley until she finally passed out on my shoulder.  Oh boy, it was finally time for the Blue Angels to perform and both of our babies are passed out.  Not for long was my thought on the napping situation.  The Blue Angels were going to wake them right up!  Except they didn't!  Both of the girls stayed asleep for the whole performance and didn't flinch!  They must have been exhausted because those planes were crazy loud.  It was so much fun to watch the Blue Angels.  It takes a lot of talent to perform the way they do!  I had a blast though and was so thankful that the girls allowed me to enjoy the show!

Here is Riley passed out and completely oblivious to what is happening around her!
And here is Hadley, all hot and sweaty, on our ride home!

Big Girl Undies

I've decided to just have Riley wear big girl undies instead of the pull up during the day.  I was finding that Riley wouldn't tell me when she had to pee and would just go in the pull up and it didn't bother her.  But once I put the big girl undies on her it was a different story.  She's been doing really well, although it's still only been about 4 days.  The first day she only had one accident.  The second day was full of accidents, but only because we didn't get to the potty in time.  The third day was successful until she decided to poop in her undies while I was getting dinner ready.  Had I been watching her I'm sure she wouldn't have done that.  And day four was successful, until again, she pooped in her undies.  I was upstairs feeding Hadley and told Trey to watch her because she hadn't gone #2 yet.  The next thing I know Riley comes into Hadley's room waddling with her legs apart.  She was crying because she had poo in her panties!  That's why it's called potty TRAINING, she has to be trained not to pee or poop in her undies.  Riley is loving every moment of being a big girl and not wearing her pull up.  It's like a new found freedom.  She is nothing but smiles all of the time!  I do put the pull up on though when she naps and sleeps at night.  And that's a fight and a half.  She doesn't want to wear them anymore, but I don't want to change sheets numerous times a day.  I am glad that we are finally getting somewhere with the potty training.  I am so proud of how well she is doing.  My baby is getting so big!

10 Months & a Familiar Face

Can you believe this adorable face is 10 months old!!  I find it hard to believe that in two more months she'll be one!  I seriously feel like this time around has gone faster than with Riley.  Lord help me if the years keep getting quicker and quicker.  Too bad I think they will!  Hadley is now trying to stand on her own.  She only can stand alone for about 5 seconds at a time before she falls on her bum, but she's getting there.  Hadley is a fan of holding onto the couch or table or wall to help her move along on her feet.  She is a super fast crawler now.  I mean crazy fast.  Trey and I crack up laughing watching her zoom around.  I'm anxiously waiting for the first steps.  Hadley's favorite thing to say right now is "no, no, no!"  I think she hears that phrase all too often!

We went out to dinner tonight with an old family friend, Joe Knight.  Most of you know Joe is one of Justin's best friends.  He's here in O'ahu on business.  Unfortunately he didn't have the rest of his family with him, but it was fun to catch up with Joe.  We took him to Schooner's for dinner.  He'd never been there before and it sits right on the water and has a great atmosphere.  It's never too busy either, which is great when you have little ones joining you at dinner.  Joe was a little nervous at first because the parking lot was empty, but I told him to trust us local folk!  It paid off too because dinner was scrumptious, as usual!  It was nice to see another familiar face from home this summer.  I enjoyed Joe's company for dinner and am only sorry that Elyse and the boys couldn't be here with us!  Maybe next time!

Party of Five

As many of you already know, Trey and I are expecting baby #3!  My estimated due date is May 12, 2011.  Apparently we are running a baby factory in our house!  Ha ha!  However, this will be the last addition to our family.  Trey and I both agree that our family will be complete once our new bundle of joy graces us with his(or her) presence.  We are both really excited, which is one of the reasons we aren't waiting until I'm 12 weeks to announce our news.  We didn't wait to announce the first two pregnancies, so why wait this time!  Trey definitely has his hopes up to get his boy this time around.  I hope for his sake he does!  I don't know what Trey would do with a house filled with all women!  Either way, boy or girl, we'll be happy with another healthy baby.  I look forward to keeping everyone posted on baby Prewitt #3!!

Cook Out

Today was definitely a day where I remember exactly what I was doing 9 years ago.  It was such a horrendous day when we were under attack and so many lives were taken.  But I am grateful to all the men and women who have lost their lives fighting for us and for those who are still fighting.  Today reminded me of all the things I am so very grateful for, especially my family and friends.  It was an absolutely beautiful day here in O'ahu, so we decided to have a cook out with our friends, The Derryberry's.  They set up their blow up slide and pool so that the kids could play in the water while us adults enjoyed some conversation.  It was just the perfect evening to be spending outside.  Trey and Derel were in charge of the grilling and boy was the chicken delicious!  Of course while I was eating I sat Hadley down on a blanket only to turn away from her for a second to find that she ate a piece of grass and started choking on it.  You better believe it came right up and she threw up everywhere.  It was disgusting.  I had to get us both changed.  Then I enjoyed some yummy watermelon.  Mmmm, I love a bbq!  We all stayed outside until it was dark and time for baths and bed for my babies.  It was honestly just a lovely evening enjoyed by all!

Mahalo for Visiting

After Diamond Head the rest of the day was really chill.  Kiki and Aunt Terry had to be at the airport around 5:30pm so we all just hung around the house and watched a movie.  Of course 5:30 came way too quickly.  The time came to take them to the airport and I know my mom was fighting back her tears.  Hadley was still napping when we left for the airport, but I had Kiki and Aunt Terry give her a kiss before I put her in her crib.  Riley rode with us to the airport and she didn't want to say goodbye when we dropped them off.  I helped get the luggage out of the car and gave hugs and kisses.  It's always hard to see the ones you love leave, but I know I'll see them again soon.  My mom, of course, had her sunglasses on to shield her watery eyes!  I had a fabulous time with Kiki and Aunt Terry.  Both Riley and Hadley adored them.  As soon as we drove away Riley was asking for Kiki and Berry(that was Aunt Terry's name while she was here).  Thank you guys so much for visiting us.  Great memories were made!  I love you!

Diamond Head- Take 2

Well it's Kiki and Aunt Terry's last day here in beautiful O'ahu.  I'm rather sad thinking about the fact that their time here is over.  But, I'm still going to make the most of the time we have left together.  We were going to hike Diamond Head before Aunt Terry went to Maui but then decided to save it for when she got back.  Of course now Trey has an injured ankle and can't help me get our girls up the mountain.  That's okay though, I'm going to tough it out and utilize the help of my mom and Aunt Terry.  So we get to Diamond Head and the parking lot is full.  This means we would have to park across the street, which in turn means we would have to walk about a mile to get to Diamond Head.  So we decide that I will just drop of Kiki and Aunt Terry and I'll stay in the car with the girls.  I knew they'd finish in about an hour, whereas if we had taken both the girls it would've been close to a 2 hour event.  Of course it was kind of crappy because I wanted to do this hike with them.  It's such a breathtaking view from the top, I just think it would've made a good memory for me.

So while Kiki and Aunt Terry were hiking Diamond Head, the girls and I were playing in the Tahoe.  I just parked at an overlook so at least I could have somewhat of a pretty view while waiting for Kiki and Aunt Terry to go take in an amazing view!  Riley, Hadley and I did have a fun time though.  Riley and I sang the abc's over and over while Hadley climbed all over the car.  The fun stopped after about an hour in the car and the girls had had enough.  I got them both in their seats and drove to see if Kiki and Aunt Terry had finished their hike.  When I dropped them off Aunt Terry told me to give them 2 hours and I knew it wouldn't take that long.  As I pulled up to see if they were finished I saw them sitting on a bench waiting for their ride!  Thank the Lord they were done because I had two children who were melting down.  Unfortunately we had to listen to Hadley scream for about the first 15 minutes home until she finally passed out.  Riley passed out right away.  Kiki and Aunt Terry had a great hike and were very grateful they got the chance to hike Diamond Head.  I was happy.

Kiki's Last Dinner in Hawaii

It's Kiki's last night here with us.  Trey was really craving some Italian food so we decided to go try a place called Buca di Beppo that I had heard great things about.  Aunt Terry decided to sit this dinner out and just have some left over lasagna.  I wasn't exactly sure how dinner was going to go because we were leaving later than normal and Riley hadn't taken a nap.  Luckily when we arrived at the restaurant we only had to wait about 3 minutes for a table.  The hostess asked if we had eaten there before and I replied no.  Little did I know that answer got us a tour through the kitchen.  It was really cool and Trey loved every moment of the tour.  Trey and I haven't been able to find a good Italian restaurant since we've lived here and the second we sat down at our table Trey knew we found a great spot.  Buca di Beppo is family style dining, so the portions are huge.  A small order feeds 2-3 people.  Of course instead of us splitting our meals, we all order something different.  Needless to say we had leftovers for days!  Even Riley's kid sized spaghetti was enough to feed an adult.  The food was pretty good and it was a really cool atmosphere.  But our children weren't really cooperating during dinner and Trey wasn't feeling so hot from the medicine he took so we pretty much ate and ran.  It was fun to experience a new restaurant though.  Next time we'll get there earlier and when both girls have napped!

Pineapple Time

Today I took all the girls to The Dole Plantation.  I love the smell of pineapple in the air when you walk into this place.  It's so heavenly and refreshing.  We, of course, took a ride on The Pineapple Express so that mom and Aunt Terry could get a tour of the plantation.  It's always something fun to do here and Riley enjoys getting on the choo- choo, as she calls it!  I was sure to watch Riley's feet this time on the train to ensure she didn't kick her shoes off again.  Luckily she wore her flip flops with a strap around her heel instead of her crocs.  No shoes falling off the train this time!

After the train ride we all enjoyed a pineapple ice cream cone.  Mmmmm, absolute deliciousness!  We were going to go through the World's Largest Maze but both of the girls were getting ready to lose their cool and since the maze takes at least 45 minutes to complete we decided to just head home for lunch and naps.  It was a fun morning at the Dole Plantation though.  I always enjoy going and I'm glad that Aunt Terry and my mom got to visit there,
Here is a shot of the cutest pineapple ever!!

Fun in Waikiki

I went and picked Trey up from the hospital first thing this morning.  I brought him home and got him settled.  Then after Hadley's morning nap my mom, Aunt Terry, the girls and I headed to the beach.  We went to the lagoon down in Waikiki.  It's the perfect spot to go with little ones.  Since Riley is a huge fan of the water I knew this would be a great place to be.  It was also Aunt Terry's first time in Waikiki and I knew she would enjoy the atmosphere as well.  We got there right at lunch time and we were all hungry.  So my mom took Riley down to the water, Aunt Terry stayed with Hadley, and I went on the search for some burgers and sodas.  The first place I went to didn't have what I was looking for.  The next place had $12 cheeseburgers.  I passed on that one!  I knew that the Hale Koa had good food and reasonable prices so I walked all the way there.  Carrying all of our food and drinks back to our spot on the beach felt like a 5 mile hike.  But I made it without spilling any of the sodas or dropping anything off of the tray.  After lunch my mom and Aunt Terry thought it would be fun to rent a paddle boat and take Riley out on it in the lagoon.  We all thought that she would love it!  So I'm holding Hadley watching them steer the paddle boat, waiting for them to come towards me so I could say hello to Riley and take their picture.  After about 15 minutes of them going around in circles and running into the rock wall they finally made over in my direction!  Aunt Terry and my mom claimed something was wrong with the steering device, but I'm thinking it was the drivers!  Ha ha!  Riley was done riding on the paddle boat after about 20 minutes.  She just wanted to be in the water playing, not on a boat.  So that left Aunt Terry and my mom to paddle around by themselves for another 40 minutes.  And with the boat not steering properly they continued to just move in circles and tried to avoid hitting the people swimming in the lagoon.  At one point my mom got out of the paddle boat to push it away from a rock wall.  But then she couldn't get back in and couldn't stop laughing about it.  Everyone on the beach was watching, which made it even harder for her to get back in because she didn't like her audience!  I think the only people laughing at this story are probably my mom and Aunt Terry.  You really had to be there!  But it was totally funny!
After the paddle boat adventure my mom and Aunt Terry decided to take Riley around the lagoon on a raft.  Someone had left the raft(which was a hotel raft) so we decided to utilize it!  Riley was loving every bit of being towed around the lagoon on the raft.  I mean she was in heaven!  I was wishing that I was laying on the raft, relaxing.

But the best part of the raft was when Riley was done with it and wanted Kiki to get on.  I don't really think there is any good way to get on a raft other than to just plop yourself on there.  I jokingly took a picture of my mom getting herself on the raft and it turned out priceless.  Aunt Terry and I were literally wetting our pants when we saw the shot I got.  Sorry mom, but I had to post this picture.  I love you!

After our fun at the lagoon we headed back towards the car.  On our way we stopped for a yummy ice cream treat and we stopped by The Pearl Factory for Aunt Terry.  I didn't think we were ever going to leave the pearl shop because Aunt Terry was obsessed!  She was having so much fun shopping for pearls.  It was actually fun to watch, she was like a kid in a candy store!  After I'd say an hour we left the pearls and headed home.  We were all plum tuckered out and excited to eat some of my mom's homemade lasagna(which she prepared before we left for the beach0!  Yum!  A perfect ending to a perfect day!
Here is Riley passed out on the drive home.  We were only in the car for about 2 minutes when she fell asleep!

Another Action Packed Day

My morning began with a trip up to the hospital first thing so that I could go check in on Trey.  Riley wanted to go with me today.  I was a little uneasy about taking her, but she was crying for her daddy.  So we went to Starbucks and picked up some breakfast and headed to see daddy.  Riley was rather uneasy sitting in the hospital room once she saw daddy hooked up to an IV.  She kept telling me she wanted to go home.  So after only about 30 minutes we said our goodbyes.  As we were walking out of the hospital Riley asked to be carried, which is rare.  So I picked her up and then heard little sniffles coming from her.  I looked at her and saw the biggest boo-boo lip and tears welling up in her eyes.  I asked her if she was ok and she said, "daddy no more walk."  My heart just broke.  Riley didn't think that Trey was ever going to walk again.  I comforted her and she calmed down.  Lesson to self: don't take Riley to the hospital again!

We got home and I took over watching Hadley so Kiki could hop in the shower and get ready for the day.  While Kiki was getting ready the girls were having some fun in the playroom.  Riley, surprisingly, was cooking in her tutu.  The surprising part there was the fact she was wearing her tutu voluntarily and smiling!  Hadley was in her favorite spot, with the shopping cart.  Hadley likes to pull and throw all of the contents of the cart out.  Then when it's empty she screams because she wants to do it some more.  So I put everything back in so she could pull it all out again.

Once Kiki was ready we were off to Moanalua Gardens.  Last time I took the girls here we didn't get past the fish pond.  So today we wandered past the pond to go explore the botanical garden.  Well we quickly realized why we didn't go any further than the pond, there really was nothing more to see.  The botanical garden here really just focused around these trees know as Monkey Pod Trees.  Apparently these trees are important in the Japanese culture and there are always bus loads of Japanese tourists coming to look at the Monkey Pod Trees.  Even though there weren't a ton of flowers to see we had a nice morning/afternoon.  Riley fed a ton of food to the fish at the pond and was in heaven.  Hadley just relaxed in her stroller and enjoyed the fresh air.

We went home and had some lunch.  I put the girls down for their nap and headed back up to the hospital to take Trey a late lunch/early dinner.  I got home around 3:00 only to find out that Aunt Terry caught an early flight back from Maui and would be in at 3:45.  Phew, no nap for me today!  The girls woke up from their naps and we all loaded in the car to pick up Aunt Terry.  Yay, we have Aunt Terry back!  My mom and I were both excited to hear about her experience in Maui and Aunt Terry was floored to hear about our experience with Trey while she gone!  Many stories were told tonight!
