Strolling Through the Neighborhood

I normally take Riley for a walk on a daily basis. It's definitely no fun to be couped up in the house all day. I have a car, but I definitely don't know my way around this island yet and since I don't have navigation I don't really drive that much! The only places that I drive to are the commissary, the exchange, the mall, and the doctors. I guess I need to go exploring but I just don't feel like getting lost with Riley. So instead of driving around we just go on our lovely walks. Walking is my way of burning calories. However, some days I walk us to the Starbucks, so I'm just packing those calories right back onto my hips! Riley seems to enjoy the fresh air. The sun is definitely way too bright for her, so we make sure to wear a hat and keep her in the shade. By the time we get home Riley is normally passed out. We both love our walks!

Doctor Visit

Well Riley finally had her 2 month "well baby check" today. Yes, I'm highly aware that Riley is now 3 months old. However, due to our move and having to change our insurance and get a new doctor, this was the quickest we could get her an appointment. Anyway...we are only a couple weeks behind! So Trey and I take Riley into the Dr's office and lay her down so she can get measured and weighed. To my astonishment the nurse says, "well she's the first baby to actually smell like a baby." Trey and I looked at eachother wondering what she was talking about. The nurse began telling us how babies come in with all kinds of cat hair/dog hair stuck in between their toes and all in their clothes, and that the babies just smell like animal. So I might be a little late getting Riley to the doctor, but at least my baby smells good!
I am happy to announce that Riley now weighs 15lbs 8oz and is 24 inches long. She is in the 97 percentile with her weight and 75-90 percentile with her height. Both the nurse and doctor informed us that our daughter was well above average! She must get that from Trey, because everyone knows how tiny I was as a little girl. So after we saw the doctor we took Riley down the hall to the immunization room. My poor little baby! I had to hold her while this jackass navy kid gave Riley her two shots. I swear the kid couldn't have been more than 20. So I'm holding Riley and this kid asks me if I'm ready. I just looked at him and asked him if he was ready. What did I have to be ready for...I wasn't adminstering the shot. After the first shot Riley screamed. Then came shot number two and the damn jackass made Riley bleed. I mean it was dripping down her leg. I really don't think that was normal. Of course he tried to tell me it was. Riley let out a scream that I had never heard before. Tears were pouring out of her eyes like waterfalls...and of course they started coming out of mine too! After about 5 minutes she calmed down. Trey got her Tylenol prescription filled and we came home. I don't know who the shots were worse for...Riley or myself. It's heartwrenching to hear your baby cry like that. I'm just glad it's over, at least for the next two months.

Sleep Through the Night

Well since Riley was 2 months old she's been able to sleep through the night. It was the greatest feeling not having to get up every 2 hours during the night. Of course, Riley would normally wake up at 5am...but I'm not complaining. However, for the past 2 nights my little princess has been sleeping until 7am. Riley has a regular routine at night. We have bathtime at 7pm and then it's a fight to get her into her nightgown. After her hissy fit over getting dressed, I feed her and then she's in bed by 8'ish. So my little love bug has been sleeping for 11 hours during the night. I love it! She's so damn sweet! I hope I'm not jinxing myself by writing about how well she sleeps. The picture is from when we first got to Hawaii and we were staying in the Navy Lodge. I was up getting a shower and came out to see both of my babies sound asleep. I had to capture that sweet moment. That's the best time for me, when both of them are sleeping...it's the only time I get to myself! Just kidding, I like it when they are awake too!

Home Sweet Home

I just wanted to post a few pics of our lovely military housing. We were told the waiting list is normally between 4 and 8 months. But my loving husband is super proactive and got us our house within one week!

Just Hanging Out

Well after 2 weeks of living in our new home, I've finally got everything put away and together! I got to unpack all of the boxes by myself, hence the reason it took so darn long! Riley doesn't give me much time to complete tasks. She's quite demanding of my attention! Trey and I are both relieved to be all settled in now. It's starting to feel like home. While Trey gets to go to work all day long, Riley and I get to play! Riley's almost 3 months old now and loves to smile and she's starting to giggle a little. She is a talkative little one too! Anyway, we are loving the weather and the atmosphere here in Honolulu but we miss you guys! Here are some pics of my little beauty queen. She's a bit stubborn though(she must get that from Trey). Every time she's smiling I grab the camera and then she immediately stops...but you should enjoy the pics anyway!

We Made It to Hawaii

Well it's been quite an exciting past few months. Trey and I welcomed our baby girl, Riley, into the world on April 22. It was such a great moment when I first saw her...after 19 hours of labor! Trey doesn't handle hospitals well, so thank the lord my mom was there to coach me through the pain! We brought Riley home to our quaint one bedroom apartment. It was just a tad congested in that poor place.
However, due to Trey's new orders to Hawaii our apartment was being packed out one month after we got home from the hospital. So since Trey still had to work, Riley and I traveled to MD! Riley got to experience her first road trip, and she did marvelous! We spent two weeks in MD saying our goodbyes to family and friends. It was a fun time and I'm so glad that Riley got to meet so many people that love her.
After MD we flew to St Louis to experience another round of goodbyes with Trey's family. I was a little nervous flying with Riley being that she wasn't even 2 months old yet. We flew southwest and Trey walked us all the way to the back of the plane(I mean very last row) so we wouldn't bother anybody. Riley did such a great job, right up until she spit her pacifier out and it fell behind the seat and I couldn't reach it. Luckily the flight attendant got down on his knees and reached behind the seats and saved the day. He got some hot water so we could clean the binky! Meanwhile, Trey is trying to calm a screaming baby while getting mean mugged from tons of the passengers! But once Riley got her clean binky the world was a better place! We had a great time in St Louis and will miss everyone dearly!
So after 2 weeks in St Louis we hopped on our flight to take us to our new home, Hawaii! Our layover was in LA, and oh my goodness, that place is crazy. Trey and I couldn't wait to get onto the next plane. It was nice because the Navy bought Riley her own ticket so we got an extra seat. This helped when we had to change her diaper because we just layed her in the middle seat. Much easier! We arrived in Honolulu after a 12 hour travel day. It was 2am where we came from and only 8pm in Hawaii. My poor Riley didn't know what she was supposed to do....eat, sleep, or play! It was a long night to say the least.
Anyway, we are now in our military housing. It's so nice being in a home that has 2 bedrooms and a dining room and more than one bathroom...we didn't have that on Ocean View! Plus, Trey gets his garage. I don't think he could be happier! Our furniture just got here Monday, so I'm busy unloading boxes, putting everything away, and lots of laundry! It's beautiful here in Hawaii. I promise there will be pictures to follow. I just wanted to get this blog started for all of my family that told me I was to start one of these pages...so here you are!
