Friday Full of Fun

The girls had been waiting a long time for today.  We took them to the movies to see Brave.  They were so excited.  Taking three kids to the movies is quite an event though.  Riley, of course, is no problem.  She's definitely old enough now.  Hadley is good through the movie, but she's still too light for her seat to stay down.  She still wants to sit by herself, so I have to hold her chair down with my leg.  Then there is Emrey.  This child wouldn't sit still unless she was eating some Reeses pieces.  And I would only give her so many of those.  Po was kind enough to walk out with Emrey and miss the last 10 minutes of the movie.  My mom had walked out with her for a bit, but he didn't want her to miss the ending(where of course she cried!).  It was a great movie and the girls really enjoyed it.  Hadley got home and wanted to reenact the bear fight.

My mom and I took the girls to the 50th State fair later in the evening.  Riley and Hadley were jumping out of their skin with excitement.  They rode the carousel a few times, and went on a ton of other rides. Riley went down the ginormous slide all by herself a couple of times.  It's the slide where you sit in a potato sack and practically fly down!  She loved it!  We rode in a dragon that you make spin around, kind of like the tilt a whirl.  I think I made the girls super dizzy, but I was having fun!  The last ride they went on was a roller coaster.  My mom went on with Hadley and Riley rode in a cart by herself.  I thought Hadley was going to be scared but my mom said she had a blast.  Riley wanted to stay longer, but there was a major storm coming in and it started to rain on us.  It was time to head home.  We all had another fun time.  The girls were pretty sad to leave, but happy that Kiki bought them each a bubble gun!

Beach Day

Today was a perfect beach day.  We went to my favorite place, The Bellows.  You just can't go wrong with this beach.  It's got such beautiful scenery and areas for shade to lay out our blanket.  The girls absolutely love the beach.  I honestly think Riley could stay from sunrise to sunset.  Mr Kevin definitely enjoyed this day.  He kept saying how beautiful it was and asking why we'd ever want to leave.  We often ask ourselves that question when we are at the beach.  Our girls are definitely spoiled by the Hawaii beaches.  They see pictures of Ocean City and call the water nasty and dirty.

Everyone had a blast playing in the sand and in the ocean.  The best part was that nobody got stung by a man of war.  Hallelujah!  My mom did spot one in the water though, and Mr Kevin scooped it out.  Riley found one washed up on the shore as well.  We managed to not have any encounter with them stinging us though.  That made for this day to be most excellent!!

Picnic

Today was a pretty chill day.  We let Emrey take her morning nap, which she'd been missing.  Then we grabbed some lunch and had a picnic at Moanalua Gardens.  After we ate, the girls ran over to feed the koi.  Emrey was pretty much ready to dive into the pond.  I gave Kiki the duty of watching her, or rather holding onto her(tight)!!  Mr Kevin just sat back and took in the beauty and peacefulness of this place.  It really is pretty and quite calming.

After a nice afternoon and naps we all went to Schooners for dinner.  It was actually suggested by Riley.  She said, "Hey Po, since you aren't watching golf anymore, how about we eat at the boat place for dinner."  It was hysterical.  She was upset that we didn't stay and eat there on Father's Day and wanted to go back.  It was a lovely suggestion!  We got to enjoy a nice dinner with a great backdrop of mountains, water, and sail boats.

Zoo

The girls were stoked to go to the zoo today.  Before we headed there, we dropped Mr. Kevin off at the Pearl City Golf course so he could play.  He'd been itching to get on a golf course.  So while he did his thing, my mom and I set off for the zoo with my little monkeys.  Hadley is completely obsessed with animals these days.  Not just one animal, she loves them all.  Riley has always enjoyed going to the zoo.  Now that she's older she loves to ask questions and learn about the animals.  She got to learn a little too much when we were checking out the chimpanzees.  There was definitely a little more action than a child's eyes needed to be seeing.  Riley asked what they were doing.  I simply replied, "playing.  Let's move on to the next exhibit."
Hadley didn't want to walk, so Kiki gave her a piggy back ride!
Leopards!  They were pretty.
Cheeeese!

Emrey kept chasing the birds during our lunch stop

We stopped and ate some lunch half way through the zoo.  Then we proceeded into the Keiki Zoo, which is specifically for the little ones.  Riley and Hadley went into the petting zoo area with Kiki.  I stayed on the other side of the fence with Emrey, who kept attempting to pet the goats through the fence.
We spent a good two and a half hours at the zoo.  The girls had a blast.  Kiki and I enjoyed ourselves too.  Now it was time to head off to pick up Mr Kevin.

North Shore

We voyaged out to the North Shore today.  I wanted Mr Kevin to get a good taste of Hawaii.   It's pretty built up where we live and Mr Kevin kept saying that it doesn't look like he remembered.  Well, no wonder, it's not still 1970!!  Joking, joking.  I knew the North Shore is the perfect place to really feel like you are on a tropical island.  The drive through the North Shore is always nice.  I took everyone to Waimea Valley to enjoy a beautiful walk through nature.  The smell of this place makes me want to stay here forever.  It's so peaceful and serene through this valley.  It's definitely one of my favorite spots to go on the island.  The only downer is you have to pay to get in.  However, it's well worth it.

Riley is about to pick a flower.  Definitely not allowed!  I thought she was just going to smell the flower which is why I was taking a picture.

Emrey, climbing the stairs

All Hadley wanted to do was see the waterfall.  She missed out!!

Sweet picture, except Emrey was eating a cracker and sticking her tongue out!
