10 Weeks...And Already Showing

So I'm 10 weeks into my pregnancy and it's been completely different from my first pregnancy. With Riley, I was sick morning, noon, and night for the first 16 weeks. It was awful! I have been so excited that I have been feeling great this time. The only problem I was having was being completely exhausted. Of course chasing after a 1 year old doesn't help that! But here I am, 10 weeks along and the vomiting has begun. Last night and this morning the toilet has been my friend. I thought I was going to be in the clear with getting sick, but I guess I'm just not that lucky. Hopefully it won't last past the first trimester, which is only 2 more weeks for me.
The one thing keeping me going through the day is having Riley entertain me. When she is laughing and babbling it keeps my mind off my nausea. She is very sweet when I have to run to the bathroom though. Riley follows me in and pats my back or lays her head on my shoulder. I'm not quite sure how she can stand there and watch me get sick, but I love her that much more for it!

1 Year Check-Up

Riley had her one year check up today. She is now 29.6 in tall and weighs 23lbs 6oz. Riley is in the 75th percentile for her age group. It was funny to hear that because every other doctor visit Riley has been in the 95th percentile and practically tipping the charts. I guess her growth spurt is slowing down. Maybe she won't wind up being taller than her mommy! All of the running around she does now is keeping her weight down. She's losing her baby fat rolls more and more everyday. And finally her top tooth is cutting through. I saw a speck of white yesterday as I was flipping my little acrobat upside down. It's about time the little munchkin got another tooth.

Cake Time

As Trey and I sang happy birthday to Riley she wasn't really quite sure what was going on. She had already heard that song about a billion times already and was probably wondering why we were singing it again. Trey blew out her candle and then after taking the candles off the cake he put the whole cake in front of Riley. I guess that's what you do on a first birthday. It didn't really matter since it was only us that would be eating the cake!
Of course Trey put the cake in front of Riley before mommy put her bib on. It's ok, I managed to sneak the bib on before any frosting smeared her new shirt. Riley happily dug her hand in the frosting and then shoved it in her mouth. She was looking at me and Trey as if we lost our minds because we never let her eat like that! After letting her dig into the cake a little bit, I decided that was enough and she can have a little piece of cake.

I'm pretty sure Riley enjoyed her chocolate cake. I'm even more sure that I enjoyed her cake after she went to bed! I still can't believe that Riley is 1! Here is to the next year.

Birthday Bash

This morning Riley and I got together with our friends from our hui group and had a little birthday bash at a facility called Leapin' Lizards. This place has "toddler time" every Wed. for about 2 hours. They have a ton of inflatable play houses that you and your baby can go jump around in. Surprisingly enough, none of our toddlers seemed to enjoy the bouncy houses. All of us adults were having more fun than our kids. It was pretty funny.
Here is a shot of a giant slide. Now, this was a blast. Riley actually enjoyed going down the slide. I didn't let her go by herself because I watched Shannon let her son, Beckson, go down by himself and he landed on his face. He was laughing afterwards, but I didn't want Riley to start screaming!

This cutie below is Ashley. Isn't she sweet?

After all of the excitement of jumping around the kids were ready for a snack. I think they had more fun eating than bouncing all over the place! Here is a shot of Riley using her sign language and asking for more! She's such a good girl.

Riley was sitting at the bottom of the slide and decided to put Seagem's purse on. I think she liked all the bling bling on the purse! Watch out...Riley's ready to go shopping!
It was a fun morning for us. Riley got some nice birthday presents even though I told everyone not to get her anything. But they all said, "you only have your first birthday once!" Of course, don't you only have every birthday once? Ha ha!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY RILEY!!!!!

It's hard for me to believe that a year has gone by already. I can't believe that our baby girl is 1!!! I just wanted to wish our little girl a Happy Happy 1st Birthday!! Mommy and Daddy love you bunches and bunches!!!
The top picture is Riley from yesterday and this bottom picture is Riley exactly one year ago! My how fast she has grown!

Another Bloody Lip

I must say that this fall was much better than the last fall. First of all Riley didn't land face first on pavement, so that was a plus. We had just walked inside of the house from checking the mail and Riley was running into the living room and tripped over her foot. She flew face forward into one of her toys that wasn't soft. Immediately Riley started screaming. I ran over to her and picked her up only to find her lip bleeding like crazy. This time it was her bottom lip that was busted. Riley actually let me put a wet cloth on her lip to wipe the blood away and prevent her lip from swelling like last time. After her lip got cleaned up she was ready to play again. She took this fall like a champ!

Comfy Cozy

After lunch today I took Riley on a walk. It was more for myself to get some fresh air. Riley loves to be outside but I was too tired to chase her around the front yard, so I figured a stroll through the neighborhood would allow her to be outside and me to breathe in some fresh air. It wasn't even Riley's nap time, but about 10 minutes into the walk she passed out. She was sitting straight up when she fell asleep so I leaned the seat back so she wouldn't hurt her neck. Normally when I move her position when she's sleeping she wakes right up. Not today, she stayed fast asleep. When we got back to the house I pushed the stroller inside and much to my surprise Riley stayed asleep. She actually slept for an hour once we got back to the house. That must be one comfy stroller! I'm just wondering when is it my turn to get pushed around so I can just pass out whenever I feel like it! Doesn't she look like a little angel when she's sleeping?

Packing Up

As many of you know, we will be moving into a bigger, newer house on May 8th. We are very excited to move into a house that's not even 2 years old and it has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, kitchen, dining room, den, living room. Needless to say it is going to be a much needed upgrade with another little one on the way. Trey is excited because he finally gets a 2 car garage! We were considering hiring a moving company so that we didn't have to deal with the stress of getting everything packed and moved. But after doing research, I found it to be crazy expensive. The cheapest I found was around $1100. That might not sound like much, but it's definitely some airline tickets back to MD! So I have started packing up some non essentials to get us started. It's definitely not the easiest thing in the world to pack boxes with an almost 1 year old. In order to keep Riley entertained I stuck her in a box while I packed another box. She was thoroughly entertained the whole time!
So far I have our bedroom closet packed, which consisted of 3 XL U-Haul boxes. I have way too many clothes that I don't even wear, yet I can't seem to part with them. I believe one day I'll fit into them again. I also managed to get 4 medium boxes packed with kitchen stuff. One of those boxes is filled with all of our martini, margarita and wine glasses. It's rather sad that I haven't been able to use any of them. I was pregnant with Riley when I got them as wedding shower gifts, then I've been breastfeeding for the past year, and now I'm pregnant again. One day...hopefully I'll use them!
I still have plenty more to pack. Not really quite sure what area I'm going to pack up next. All I know is May 8th is sneaking up on me and I want to be prepared! Wish me luck!

Happy Teething

For the past few days Riley has been the whiniest child on planet earth. Honestly, I don't remember Riley ever being so whiny and moody. I'm assuming it's because she's got some more teeth coming in, finally. But it's just so darn frustrating because it seems like nothing I can do makes her happy. The joys of motherhood I suppose! It's funny though, as much as she drives me crazy when she's whining the second she flashes her big smile at me, I forget all about her driving me crazy! I mean look at her smile, how could I possibly stay upset with her? I feel bad getting frustrated with her when she won't stop whining, but I blame it on my pregnancy. I think I'm doing a pretty good job at being as patient as possible. Hopefully her teeth will pop through soon so that my chipper little angel will come back to me. Well at least until the next tooth starts to come through!

Hoppy Easter

We didn't have a typical Easter here in Hawaii. Riley enjoyed pulling all of her treats out of her Easter basket thanks to her Poppy, Grandma Kathy, Nana, Kiki and Po. After that I wasn't feeling the greatest so Riley and I took a nice 2 hour nap. It was well needed for the both of us. It was an absolutely gorgeous day outside(go figure) so Trey filled up Riley's pool while I got her all suited up. We spent the day out in the front yard enjoying the weather and eachother. Riley was having a blast in the pool. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better day.

To top the day off I got to see a rainbow. I think that might be one of my favorite things about Hawaii. I can never get enough of rainbows. I just think they are so pretty and vibrant. I was trying to get Riley to look in the sky, but I don't think she understood what I was saying! Oh well! I hope everyone had just a wonderful a day as we did!

Easter Fun

On Saturday, our community was putting on an "Eggstravaganza" for the kids in all of the military neighborhoods. I thought it would be a fun time to take Riley to see the Easter bunny and participate in the easter egg hunt. Riley was less than thrilled to sit on the Easter bunny's lap. It was nap time for Riley and it was definitely showing on her face. After our short visit with the Easter bunny we walked over to the field where all the easter eggs were placed. Riley didn't want anything to do with them either. Not to mention you had to be 2 years old to participate in the egg hunt. It wasn't really much of a hunt anyway, the eggs were out in the open.

Afterwards we drove to the North Shore and had dinner at our favorite place, Cholo's. Riley took a nice hour nap on the ride there. All in all it was a fun day, even if we didn't get to collect any easter eggs!

Early Birthday Present

Let me start off by saying that I'm sorry it's been a week since my last post. I had a stomach virus for a few days and then Riley caught it, so it has been a yucky week. Now that she and I are both on the road to recovery, I have the energy to blog!

Riley received an early birthday present from her Aunt Toni and Uncle BJ. It's a personalized chair for our little princess. The best part about the chair was watching Trey put it together. He wouldn't listen to me, so it took a little longer than it should have! Once the chair was finished Riley climbed right in and thought she was the queen bee! She sits in there like such a big girl. However, Riley thinks it's a jungle gym too. She is climbing all over the chair. I'm certain there are going to be many bumps and bruises until Riley figures out it's just for sitting. But, Riley absolutely loves her big girl chair. Thank you Aunt Toni and Uncle BJ!!

Face First

As I have mentioned before, Riley is an outdoorsy girl. She would run and play outside all day long if I kept her outside. Riley hasn't been the fondest of playing in the grass, I'm guessing because of the texture. She'd much rather be on the sidewalk or the driveway which always makes me nervous. Riley has scraped her knees on the pavement more times than I can count. She's scraped them so hard they bleed, but she gets right back up without a tear and keeps running. However, today our girl took a big spill. Riley is finally running through the grass now. But the grass is a little lower than the sidewalk and driveway so she has to step up a little bit when she wants to get out of the grass. Unfortunately today Riley tripped on the edge of the driveway trying to get off the grass and fell flat on her face. My heart sank into my stomach. I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. I picked her up and saw the blood and heard the screams. I tried to wipe her mouth with a cold cloth but Riley didn't want anything touching her. She pretty much wiped most of the blood off on my shirt anyway. It took about a half hour to get her calmed down. I bribed her with a snack! Now Riley has a nice fat lip. I'm sure there are many more to come!

Hazel Eyed Girl

From the time that Riley was in my womb, Trey and I bickered back and forth about who Riley would look like. I was certain that since we were having a girl she would look like me because I look like my mom. But no, she came out a spitting image of her daddy! When she was born she had blue eyes. So I thought I won in that department. However, once again, I lost. But she doesn't have Trey's brown eyes either. I like to say she got the best of both worlds...a little brown and a little blue mixed gives Riley her beautiful hazel eyes. Now Trey and I get to tease each other about the new baby on the way. What will the sex of the baby be, who will the baby look like, what color eyes will the baby have? Maybe I'll win this time!!
