Rainy Day

Saturday started out to be a nice lazy day for us. It was pouring down rain all day long and Trey and I decided we would just be couch potatoes for the day! We were having fun just playing with Riley and Trey was playing on his Xbox 360. After Riley's nap Trey took the initiative to lower Riley's mattress in her crib. She was attempting to get out of her crib so to be on the safe side we decided it would be best to move the mattress down so no accidents would happen. Once Trey finished with the mattress I was putting her bumper pad in the crib so she wouldn't bang her head on the wood panels. While I was fixing up her crib, Trey took Riley into our bedroom and was playing with her on our bed. All of the sudden I hear a loud bang and then a scream that I've never heard before. I ran into our room to find that Riley busted her head on our headboard. I asked Trey what happen and he said she bumped her head. Riley hit that headboard hard. We couldn't really calm her down, so after about 30 minutes I called my mom to see what we should do. Since it was a head injury she suggested we take her to see a doctor to make sure she's ok, especially since she was still crying.

Of course the doctors office is closed on Saturday. Off to the ER we went in the pouring down rain! We waited about an hour before we were called back into a room. By this time Riley had turned into her fun loving self and we knew she was just fine. Riley was having a good time crawling around on the hospital bed. It was a big new toy for her to play with. Meanwhile Trey was getting bored and finding the need to touch everything in the room. Totally reminded me of Mr. Kevin. I started singing to Riley the song about 12 little monkeys jumping on the bed. Then Trey decided he was going to sing for us. He took over the 12 little monkeys jumping on the bed and began to sing each verse in a different genre of music. He started with rap and then onto rock. The next verse of country and then came opera. He was getting so into it and being so loud, I couldn't stop laughing. I thought I was going to wet my pants. And then in walks the doctor who said, "well it looks like you all are having fun back here." Oops! I guess we should be a little more quiet in the ER! There are real sick people there with actual emergencies. The doctor proceeded to give us the third degree asking about how Riley hit her head. Come on now, we didn't throw her into the headboard.

After our interrogation from the doctor I was instructed to feed Riley and then wait to see if she throws up. This meant Trey had to find something else to do to keep us all entertained. This time instead of singing he started spinning. He was sitting on the doctors chair that spins around and would spin as fast as he could until he'd almost fall off. One time he spun himself into the wall and Riley started belly laughing at him. He was rather comical in our room. I wouldn't have wanted to be the patient next to us though, because he was so loud. I tried to keep him quiet. It just wasn't working. We were in the ER for about 3 hours before we got to go home just to find out that our little girl was just fine. Better to be safe than sorry! I tried to snap a picture of Riley's knot on her head, it just wasn't working. The picture definitely doesn't do it justice!
