Kite Flying

To complete our move, Trey took about two weeks off of work.  So once we were almost settled in the house Trey still had some time off of work to spend with his girls.  We were trying to figure out something fun to do that didn't involve a load of money.  Trey came up with the idea of flying a kite.  Riley went with her daddy to the store and they came back with three different kites.  We all went down to the field behind our house to fly the kites.  However, Trey and I both had different ideas on the best way to fly a kite.  I don't know what he was thinking, it made no sense to me.  And I was told by Trey that I had no knowledge on how to fly a kite.  Oh boy, what a fun time we were having!  I later explained to my mom and Mr. Kevin how Trey was trying to fly the kite and they both agreed with me on the proper technique to fly a kite.  It's funny how differently we were taught as children to fly a kite.

It was really hot outside and there wasn't enough wind blowing for us to keep the kite flying in the air.  Trey thought it would be fun to take the girls over to the pool for a quick dip.  We weren't in our bathing suits and Trey didn't want to waste the time to get everyone changed.  He took his shirt off and Riley's shirt off and he jumped in.  The water was freezing cold.  Riley was dipping her feet in and then wanted to get in with daddy.  Trey puts Riley in the pool with him and she immediately starts crying and wants to get out.  It was way too cold for her liking.  I guess even though the summer heat has arrived, the pool water hasn't heated up yet!  We didn't stay long and I was thankful that we didn't waste time walking back up to the house to get everyone changed.

After dinner we took the girls over to a nearby park to attempt kite flying again.  The wind had definitely picked up which made for some better kite flying.  Trey was smart and brought two kites, just in case something were to happen to one of them.  The first kite he and Riley were flying got to far up in the air and the wind tore it off the string and it flew away.  Riley was devastated.  She didn't want anything to do with the other kite.  Riley finally calmed down and started to have fun flying the kite until the rain started to drizzle on us.  Then she was cold and just wanted to go home.  So it was a slightly successful kite flying time in the fact that we got the kites in the air.  But Riley was very upset about losing a kite and was mad at daddy!  Here is to many more fun kite flying family moments!!
