Mele Kalikimaka!

It's hard to believe that Christmas is here again! Even harder to believe that last year we had one child and this Christmas we have 2!! I'm vowing that next year it will still be 2! Opening gifts was a lot more fun this year with Riley because she could actually unwrap the presents. Of course it took her forever to open her gifts. Riley liked to tear tiny pieces of the wrapping paper at a time. I thought Trey was going to lose his mind because it was taking forever. I was growing inpatient myself, so I decided to help her out just a little bit! Trey put together Riley's big gifts from us on Christmas Eve so they would be ready for Riley(notice the ball pit behind her and a kitchen set).

Hadley enjoyed Christmas morning asleep! When she woke up I snapped a couple shots of her with her new lovie from her Uncle Justin, Aunt Sara, Addie and Bella! And also her new rattle from Kiki and Po! Riley, of course, liked to shake the rattle for Hadley!
Here is Riley playing in her ball pit with her new baby doll.

Hadley's just hanging out~ this is a rare occasion that she's content and not being held!

Riley with her new kicks! She just had to put them on as soon as she opened them!
A shot of Riley enjoying her new stroller and wearing her cha-cha's!

Not so sure what her tongue is sticking out for! But Riley was having a blast riding her new bike around the house! She got this cool bike from Poppy and Grandma Kathy! Wahoo!
Later in the day we had dinner with our friends/neighbors. They decided to do a Mexican themed dinner so I made enchiladas to take over. However it didn't seem like Christmas eating Mexican food. But then again, it doesn't seem like Christmas when it's 80 degrees out! We had a nice Christmas though! We'd like to thank everyone who sent such wonderful gifts for the girls! We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!!

One Month

My how time flies! It's hard to believe that a month has passed since Hadley was born. I had to take her to the doctor today for her 4 week weight check. I never had to do that with Riley, but I guess every doctor is different. I'm pleased to announce that Hadley has gained more weight and is now weighing in at 10lbs 13.2oz. She was born at 8lbs 2.9oz and came home from the hospital at 7lbs 11oz. So obviously my milk is doing well for Hadley! It's so nice to see the adorable baby rolls coming in on Hadley's legs and arms. I love when babies have those rolls, I just want to eat them up! Hadley is becoming more and more alert every day. She looks all over the place with her big old blue eyes and is following voices. Before I know it she'll be 1, so I'm savoring every moment!

Baby Bath

At first, Hadley hated to be bathed. Of course I think a lot had to do with the fact that she still had her umbilical cord and could only get a sponge bath since we had to keep her cord dry. Once Hadley got to experience a full bath she was rather pleased. If Hadley is crying as soon as you put her under that water she normally calms down instantly. Sometimes she doesn't enjoy her hair being washed, but other times she completely content. I enjoy the nice moments of silence while Hadley is being bathed. As soon as I take her out of her bath chair she gives her lungs a workout! She is not a fan of leaving the nice warm water and having the cooler air hit her wet body. She normally will scream until I'm done dressing her. Hadley takes after Riley with not liking to get dressed. I still sometimes have to wrestle Riley a little to get her dressed! I'm still bathing Hadley in our kitchen sink because it has a nice sprayer that Hadley enjoys. I suppose I'll move her up to the bathtub soon. I'm looking forward to the days I can bathe both the girls together. Giving 2 separate baths a night is exhausting!

Sisterly Love

From the moment Riley met her little sister Hadley she was absolutely in love. I am so happy that Riley took so well to having a sibling. The fact that Riley loves Hadley has made things much easier on me. However sometimes Riley loves Hadley a little too much! Riley just wants to kiss and hug Hadley constantly. This is wonderful except for when Hadley is sleeping and Riley feels the need to hug and/or kiss her. Riley doesn't quite understand that we don't wake up the baby. Riley has experienced plenty of time outs for not listening to mommy and daddy when we tell her no! Riley likes to go upstairs when Hadley is napping and knock on her door. Or sometimes I have the door cracked so Riley will just go run into Hadley's room. But it's adorable when Riley is loving on her sister and wanting to hold her. Of course the holding part lasts about 2 seconds and then Riley is done with it! I am truly blessed to have 2 wonderful daughters(and a wonderful husband too)!

Playground Time

Riley is an absolute addict of the outdoors. This made it fun for Kiki and Nana because they took Riley down the the playground behind our house practically everyday. Kiki and Nana got to see what a big girl Riley is watching her run around and go down all the slides by herself. Of course they were both a little overprotective and I had to reassure them that Riley was highly capable of doing it by herself. I didn't want Riley getting too babied during their visit!

It was pretty funny to watch Riley make her grandma's go down the slides. The slides definitely are made for adult sized bottoms!! But Riley enjoyed watching them slide down the slide too! I know my mom experienced the joy of trying to get Riley to leave the playground when she didn't want to. It's not a pretty picture with the tantrum Riley will throw! I always have to bribe Riley by telling her we are going to see a dog. Or else I'm stuck carrying a child who is kicking and screaming! I know Riley had a blast playing with her Kiki and Nana at the playground.

The Moms Were Here

As I'm sure most of you already know, my mom(aka Kiki) and Trey's mom(aka Nana) were both here for two weeks. My mom flew in the day before Hadley was born. And yes, my mom is certain that Hadley was waiting for her to get here. Trey's mom came in the day after Hadley was born. So when I got home from the hospital with Hadley we definitely had a full house! It was nice to have family here for Thanksgiving. My mom and Madeleine cooked Thanksgiving dinner. It was really nice to just be able to sit back and relax and not have to worry about anything going on in the kitchen. However, last year I did make a delicious turkey which I look forward to making again next year!

It was nice to have extra sets of hands around the house. Riley was entertained to the fullest. I can honestly say she's never gotten so much attention in her life! Having her Kiki and Nana here at the same time was probably heaven for Riley. Of course I'm having to deal with her cravings for constant attention now. Actually, it's not been too bad, but there have been moments. I'm thinking one grandma at a time in the future! I feel bad that we didn't take Kiki or Nana to the beaches. I know they didn't mind though, they were just enjoying their time with the family. We did manage to get them both to Haliewa and cruise through the North Shore where the surfing contests were taking place. It was crazy madness there, so we were only able to drive by. Literally, there was no parking! One thing I really miss is being able to take a shower whenever I want because I always had 2 babysitters! I have discovered now that I have to take my shower at night once the girls have both gone to sleep. But if that's my biggest problem then I'll take it!

I just want to take this time to thank my mom and Madeleine for coming to visit and help out with the girls. I'm sure that they are both missing Riley and Hadley like crazy. The girls miss you all too! We look forward to the next time you come visit...separately that is!! Ha ha!

My Baby Story

I know that this is a little late, but with Trey and I both having our moms here and getting adjusted to having two kids I haven't been able to keep up with the blog as much as I'd like. With that being said I just figured I would tell the tale of my labor day.
It all started Friday night, Nov.19th, when I couldn't sleep because I was having contractions that were about 20 minutes apart. They didn't hurt too badly, but they were annoying enough to keep me awake. Saturday morning I got up when Riley did at about 7:30am and went downstairs and had breakfast and watched cartoons with my mom and Riley. I was still having contractions and at this point they were about 8 to 10 minutes apart. The contractions were also getting more intense. I just knew that this was the day I was going to have Hadley. Around 1pm my contractions were 5 minutes apart and so we decided it was time to head to the hospital. Trey dropped Riley off at our neighbor Abbey's house and then Trey, my mom, and I headed to Tripler Hospital. We get to Tripler and head to labor and delivery. They put me in a room to do a "labor check" before admitting me. I get hooked up so they can monitor Hadley's heart rate and my contractions. After 20 minutes of being monitored the doctor comes in and says that I'm 5 cm dilated and seem to be handling my contractions well. She proceeded to tell me that I wasn't in active labor. I wanted to cry. My contractions were definitely painful, I was 5cm dilated and ready for an epidural and the damn doctor sent me home. My mom, Trey and I were all in shock. I was even more floored that the dr. couldn't give me an answer on when I should come back to the hospital. Pretty much the answer was when my water broke. I kept asking, "but what if my water doesn't break?" So I got dressed and waddled myself out of the hospital and went home.
Once we got home Trey went and picked up Riley. He brought her home and noticed that Riley had red dots on her cheeks and back. She had these for a couple of days, but Trey just noticed. He was certain that they were the chicken pox. I had called the doctor and was told it was probably just a rash and could be from her cutting her molars. Trey didn't want to take any chances with a new baby on the way so he took Riley to the ER to get her checked. During those 2 hours I was having super strong contractions that were getting closer and closer together. They were finally 2 minutes apart and hurting like a biotch. Trey and Riley got home and it was time to go back to the hospital. So my mom drove me to the hospital while Trey got Riley bathed and over to Erika's house to spend the night. I forgot to mention that Riley didn't have the chicken pox...it was just a rash! I was right!! After Trey got Riley over to Erika's he headed to the hospital where I was still in the "labor check" room. After 20 minutes the same doctor that sent me home told me that I was being admitted and was in active labor. Praise the Lord!! I got into my room, got checked in, and then got my epidural. Ouch! I don't recall having my epidural hurt with Riley and this time it hurt like no other. I can't even describe it. Once I got the epidural my blood pressure dropped significantly and I started shaking like crazy. It was a little scary because I didn't have that reaction last time. They gave me some meds and my blood pressure came up and after awhile I finally stopped shaking. Now we were just waiting for me to feel pressure down below so I could start pushing. It was 11:30pm and I buzzed the nurse to tell her I felt pressure. She checked me and could see Hadley's head. So she paged the doctors and a whole team of people came charging into my room within seconds. I seriously felt like I had an audience in the room. I guess I pushed for about 5 minutes and Hadley graced us with her entrance into the world at 11:39pm weighing 8lbs 2.9oz and 18in long. It was amazing!!

Koko Head Crater

As most of you know, my mom and Trey's mom were both here to visit. With a newborn baby we couldn't really go to the beaches and sightseeing as most would like to when they come to Hawaii. But Trey and I didn't really want them to be stuck in our house all of the time. Trey decided it would be a good idea to take the moms to climb Koko Head Crater. We attempted this climb back when Mr. Bill came to visit, but I wasn't able to make it all the way up. That meant that Trey never made it to the top and he really wanted to. So Trey, my mom, and Madeleine climbed Koko Head. I am happy to report that they all made it to the top. Yes, I got beat out by two old ladies!! A tad embarrassing, but I still have time to complete the climb. I'm happy they all made it to the top and got to see the gorgeous view.

Hadley's 2 Week Stats

I took Hadley today for her 2 week well baby check. Everything is looking great with Hadley. We have lucked out and have another healthy little girl. Like Riley, Hadley didn't enjoy getting her head measured or stripped down naked to get her weight taken. Luckily with infants they stop crying once you pick them up. So here is how Hadley has grown in just 2 weeks!
Birth- 18 in./8lb 2.9oz
2 day- 7lb 11oz
3day- 7lb 12oz
2 wks- 20.1 in/9lb 2oz
Hadley is in the 25-50% for height and 50-75% for weight. It was so funny to hear this from the doctor considering Riley was consistently in the 95% for height and weight until just recently. I think we've got a little peanut on our hands!!
