Chocolate Lovers

So I'm pretty sure that everyone has a weak spot for chocolate. I know Trey and I both like to indulge in chocolate. Whenever I have chocolate ice cream I always give Riley a little taste. I don't want her to fall to deep in love with the sweet treats yet. Riley is always at our feet begging for whatever we are eating at the time. Trey was snacking on some chocolate pudding and Riley was desperately trying to have some too! I told Trey to go ahead and give her a little taste. As you can see from the picture, Riley got much more than a little taste. As I was yelling at Trey about giving her too much I had to grab the camera to snap a picture. Her face was just too cute enjoying her chocolate pudding. I couldn't believe how much pudding Trey was giving Riley. I almost died. I guess I'm going to be the tough guy when it comes to limiting the amount of sweets Riley gets to have. It's obvious from the picture that Trey isn't setting any limits!

First Steps!!!

Yes, you read the title correctly. Riley took her first steps tonight. Trey and I were absolutely thrilled out of our minds. I was on the computer checking my email and Trey was on the floor playing with Riley. All of the sudden Trey yells in excitement that Riley had just taken 2 steps. I didn't believe him. So I turned to watch Riley and Trey waved the remote control in front of her and she took another 5 steps before she fell on her bum. It was such a proud moment for us. Hopefully I'll be able to snap some pictures of her walking soon. But right now she's only taking a couple of steps so it's hard to catch the moment on camera. I just thought I'd share this wonderful news with you all! Our daughter is only 9 months old and getting her walk on!!! Yeah!!!

Sunday Funday

Even though it's rainy season in Hawaii we manage to catch a few beautiful sunny days. It was a gorgeous day on Sunday so we decided to head to the beach. We went to the Bellows which is on an Air Force Base. The first part of the beach is open to the public, but then there is a military only section that you have to show your military id to gain access. It's much nicer to go to the private beaches because they aren't as crowded and it's more peaceful. We don't have to deal with all the tourists!! Here are a couple nice shots of the view we were enjoying!

Riley was having an absolute blast at the beach. She surprises me more and more with what she likes to do. I know many babies don't like the water or to get sandy, but Riley gets a thrill out of the water and the sand. We are lucky that we have such a beach baby.

Trey dipped Riley's feet in the water just to get her aquainted with the cool water temperature. After that we took her cover up off and put her in her baby innertube. Trey took her out into the water as I stood on the beach to take some pictures. Just Trey's luck, he wasn't watching the waves and one snuck up on him and crashed right over Riley's head. I was yelling from the shore "Treeeyyy" when I saw the wave coming for them. But it was apparent he didn't hear me. Riley didn't appreciate her underwater experience. So I went and put the camera down and jumped into the water with them. I held Riley to get her calmed down. Riley was hanging on to me for dear life! After about 20 minutes in the water we headed back up to the beach so Riley could warm up and play in the sand. She had a blast! I was surprised that she last the whole 3 hours we were there without any complaints.

After the beach we headed to Kailua and ate at the best burger joint in Oahu...Teddy's Bigger Burger. (And yes Mr. Kevin, it's better than Five Guys!) After we chowed down on our burgers and shakes we cruised up to Nuuani Pali State Park. This place has a fabulous view that goes on for miles. It was super chilly at the overlook though. The wind was blowing really hard and it was only about 65 degrees, but the wind chill made it feel like 50. I know many of you think that's warm, but let me tell you, I was frozen!

Saturday Play day

Riley and I had a fun play day on Saturday. She was in a super good mood and was extra giggly. Her favorite toy of the day was the walker that her Poppy and Grandma Kathy got her for Christmas. It's funny because when she first got the walker she would fall as soon as she tried to push it. Now she strolls across the floor like she owns the place! It's so fun to watch her walk with the toy because she has a super big smile on her face and giggles the whole time. I can't get enough!!!

While Riley and I had been playing all day, Trey was in the garage with some of his buddies working on his car. The boys eventually got hungry so we decided to fire up the grill and cook some burgers. By that time the sun was going down and the breeze was blowing. It was cold! It was probably around 58. My friend Heather and I were freezing. So I went inside and got us both a sweatshirt and one for our babies too. Of course I only had pink baby sweatshirts, so her son Ethan had to wear pink! Heather didn't care, but her husband wasn't too thrilled. He always makes fun of Trey whenever Trey wears his pink polo. So it was fun to watch him look at his little boy in pink!

Riley hates to wear long sleeves. She always tugs and pulls at them and throws fits. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to introduce her to the real cold weather back home. The last picture is a prime example of why I won't be heading to MD during the winter months!

Daddy's Girl

Trey is now on a new schedule at work. This means he leaves the house around 8:30 or 9pm and gets home around 6 or 7am. It's kind of a crappy schedule, but he gets to spend more time with Riley. Trey normally sleeps until about 2pm and then he has about 6 hours or so to play with his baby girl. Riley is becoming more and more attached to Trey now that he gets to spend more time with her during the day. She is always by his feet wanting him to play with her. Even if Trey just sits her on his lap she is just as happy and content as can be!

These bottom pictures are just to show everyone how everyday Riley is looking more and more like her daddy! I guess she's got my brain! Lucky girl!!

Project Camaro

Trey is obsessed with always needing to have a project to do on his car. I'm not a big fan of a camaro. I think they are rather "redneck." However, my husband loves them so I try to enjoy them with him. In my opinion, if you're going to have a camaro it might as well be a t-top so you can at least enjoy the wind blowing through your hair while you're riding in the car. That's about the only enjoyment I get out of riding in a camaro. Trey's white camaro that he had was a t-top. Of course I made him sell that when we found out we had a baby on the way.
Trey managed to find another camaro here in Hawaii within the first month we were here. I wasn't the happiest about that, but I dealt with it. This camaro is a hard top, so I really didn't like it at all. Needless to say, Trey's new project is converting his hard top into a t-top. Many people think he's crazy for attempting it, but he's having fun. I've learned that when Trey is involved in a project he's much more content. Once again, I deal with it! One of Trey's friend, Mike, helped him remove the roof of his camaro. My mouth was hitting the ground as I watched them tear apart his car. But I have all the confidence in the world that Trey will finish his project to perfection.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress!

Real Men Wear Pink

I remember my favorite part of having braces was getting fun colors put in my brackets. I used to get orange and black for Halloween, or red and green for Christmas, or just whatever color I wanted at the time. When Trey first got his braces he got blue to match his prized possession, his camaro. Today when he went for his appointment he came home and gave me a big old smile glowing with pink!! He decided to get pink this time for his girls! It's the little things that make Riley and I feel loved! I'm glad to know Trey's comfortable in his skin!! I like when Trey wears his pink polo because I think it's a good color on him. I never imagined he'd walk around with pink braces. But I like it, especially since he was thinking of Riley and me!!

Happy 2009!

I can't believe another year has come and gone. It's always amazing when the new year comes I am always wondering where the last year went. I must say that this past year was full of excitement for me. I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, moved to Hawaii, became a godmother to my sweet niece! And unfortunately celebrated my first Christmas away from my family in MD. But I realized it was alright because I had a wonderful time with my husband and daughter. It was rather relaxing not having to rush everywhere, even though I did miss everyone terribly!
New Years Eve was crazy here in Honolulu. We went out to dinner with Brian and his son Ethan. It was about 6:30pm and the fireworks were already illuminating the sky. When we were leaving to go home we stood out in the parking lot and watched the fireworks for a few minutes. The loud booms didn't scare Riley at all. She just stared in amazement at all the bright lights in the sky. After dinner I put Riley to bed and Trey and I hit the sack too. I tried to wake Trey up at midnight to wish him a Happy New Year, but he was out. Wow, we are a really exciting aren't we! You know you're getting older when you have to set your alarm for midnight to ring in the new year, and then you can't even wake your husband up! Oh well...there's always next year!
I have to announce that our little girl is now standing all by herself. It started on Christmas Eve, but she could only hold herself up for about 10 seconds. Now she's standing up for extended periods of time, sometimes playing with a toy in her hand. Trey and I were thrilled out of our minds when we saw Riley standing by herself. We weren't even trying to get her to stand, she did it all on her own! Riley also has her second tooth now! So she has both of her bottom front teeth. I'm not sure what tooth comes next, but I bought the teething tablets which has definitely made the teething life much easier!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!! We wish everyone the best for the new year!
