Little Bakers

Yesterday was Trey's birthday.  He's now 28 years young!  Every year I always bake him a cake.  Now I have some little helpers that love to be involved in baking and decorating.  I find it adorable at how involved Riley and Hadley like to be with cooking.  Of course there are times when I'd rather them just get out of my way.  But for daddy's birthday cake, I loved for them to do the baking!!  I was planning on doing a cake, but Riley insisted on cupcakes.  Therefore, cupcakes got baked!

Hadley was in charge of the sprinkles.  Riley was a wonderful supervisor.  When Hadley was done sprinkling, Riley went behind her and added some more.  And what better color for their daddy than pink sprinkles!!  He's lucky to have all girls!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!

Dress Whites

It's rare that Trey has to wear his dress whites and even more rare that I get to see him when he's wearing them!  It was change of command at HSL-37 today and he had to be in his dress whites.  He sent me this photo of him and his buddy.  I find my husband to be very handsome in his uniform and wanted to share it with everyone.  I'm proud of my sailor!

Sickness X 3

Last week was just awful.  It started with Hadley who had a horrible cough, she sounded like a seal.  In addition to her cough she had a fever and was throwing up.  Emrey started out with just a runny nose, which then turned into a runny nose & coughing, and then a fever came too.  Next up, Riley!  She started coughing, just a little.  Then a fever came with her too.  Lovely!  I couldn't get a doctors appointment until Friday and it all started on Wednesday.  I was trying my hardest to keep their germs off of me, but with three sick babies that's rather difficult to do.  Especially when all three of them decided to throw up on me, all in the same day.
By the time I took the girls to their doctors appointments Hadley was starting to feel better.  Her doctor said she was on the road to recovery and she didn't get any medicine.  Emrey was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection.  She got sent home with Motrin and Zyrtec.  Riley had a double ear infection and was put on amoxicillan.  For the first time ever one of my babies had to get an antibiotic.  What??  Almost 4 years of never being sick, and then, BAM!  I was surprised to hear that she had a double ear infection because she didn't once complain about her ears.  I was more concerned with her cough.

(I know Hadley was sick because she fell asleep on me.  That normally never happens anymore!)

After one dose of Riley's antibiotic, she was feeling herself again.  It was as if a miracle had taken place. She thoroughly enjoyed taking her "pink medicine" as she called it.  Monday rolled around and I was rather distraught at the sight of my sweet Emrey.  She hadn't gotten any better since Friday.  She was actually worse.  She woke up and was totally lethargic.  I was trying to feed her breakfast and she was falling asleep in her highchair.  Then, I sat her down to change her diaper and she just leaned over and fell asleep on my leg.  This was very unlike her.  I called the doctors office and had a nurse call me back.  She told me I should take Emrey to the ER.  That just pushed me over the edge.  I called my mom crying, wishing she was here and not 10,000 miles away.  A few minutes later Emrey's doctor called me.  She said I didn't need to go to the ER, just to bring Emrey in and she'd take another look at her.  Apparently, the nurse had told the doctor that I said Emrey was passing out and becoming unconscious at times.  Nothing like being made to sound like a nut job!  So I took Emrey back in to see the doctor and she put Emrey on amoxicillan too.  Only because she didn't appear to be getting better, but rather worse and we just wanted to kick this respiratory infection in the butt!
After a day of Emrey's antibiotic she was feeling better.  I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.  After a little more than a week everyone is feeling better.  Thank the Lord!

Hadley passed out in the playroom quite a few times during this sickness.  She was feeling so yucky!  And her voice was so hoarse, it broke my heart.  I didn't get any pitiful looking shots of Riley.  She wasn't sick very long, thankfully!

Children's Discovery Center

I've always wanted to take the girls to the Children's Discovery Center here in Hawaii.  I thought it would be such a fun time for them, considering how much they like to explore.    I invited a couple of our friends to join us.  The girls love spending time with their little girlfriends, so it was a fun morning.  There was so much for the kids to see, touch, and play with.  They were bouncing from one station to the next.  It's a good thing I had Emrey strapped to me, or else I'd probably have lost somebody!  There was a Curious George exhibit, which Riley & Hadley enjoyed a bunch.  They are big fans of Curious George!  Hadley kept yelling, "monkey, monkey."  There was another area where the kids could dress up in costumes and put on a play.  They could turn on sounds and lights over the stage.  They really enjoyed that.
The bad part about the morning was that their was about three different field trips with older kids who could care less about the little people.  I kept having to make sure that Hadley didn't get trampled over.  We just kept skipping the areas where the field trips were and going back to those exhibits once the wild school kids were gone.  We stayed for about two hours and then it was lunch time and nap time soon approaching, which you could tell with the meltdowns that were starting to occur.  Poor Riley didn't want to leave.  She started tearing up and telling me she wasn't ready to go.  I felt bad, but my sweet girl stopped her complaining and understood that Hadley and Emrey, and her friends were ready to head home.  I promised we'd go back, which made her happy!

Gaining Balance

I can hardly believe it, but Emrey is already getting her balance standing on her own two feet!!  Ahhh, she's only 8 months old.  First comes standing, then comes walking.  My guess is she's going to be an early walker!  She was definitely excited and proud of herself!!  Go Emrey!!

Feeding the Fishy, Again!

One of the girls favorite things to do is go to Moanalua Gardens and feed the koi fish.  Its perfect too, because it's only a couple minutes from our house and free to get in.  I like free, especially with a family of 5!!  The fish food is about $2, so it's a fun, inexpensive time.  This time some of our friends joined us. They had never been before and didn't realize how close it was to our homes.  They were pleasantly surprised!  The girls fed the fish with their friends and then we enjoyed a yummy smoothie to end our morning of fun.
